Castile and León is an autonomous region in the north of Spain, in the castilian plateau. is the largest in Spain. It covers an area of 94,223 km² with an official population of 2.5 million. At north it borders on the cantabrian mountain range with the Cornion and Urrieles massives and with the León Mountains. At nortwest borders on the iberian range. And at the South it borders on the spanish central mountain range.

Castile and León roughly overlaps with the Spanish part of the Douro River basin, on the northern half of the Meseta Central, a vast plateau in the middle of the Iberian Peninsula. It also extends to many secluded mountain valleys: Laciana, Valle de Mena, Valle del Tiétar, etc.
